The 'frank' also serves as a fallback mechanism to open the popup menu 
with the left (primary) mouse button instead of the right (secondary) 
mouse button.
This helps in configurations where opening the popup menu without the 
'frank' is difficult or even impossible. In some of my tested 
configurations there pops up the browser popup menu in addition on top 
of JSmol's popup menu which makes it very difficult/impossible to access it.
So it might even be a good idea not to switch the 'frank' off, even if 
it were possible.
