Sorry, Bob, but I'm having strange results with this version. Each of these tests begins with running Jmol.jar anew.

INCORRECT RESULTS:
load =1d66
restrict :a
/0 atoms selected # and no atoms are visible/
select visible
/0 atoms selected/
select all
/1762 atoms selected/
cartoon
restrict :b
/0 atoms selected # and no atoms are visible/
select visible
/285 atoms selected/

CORRECT RESULT:
load =1d66
restrict *chain=a*
/483 atoms selected/ # and they are visible
select visible
/483 atoms selected/

Thanks for working on this! Best regards, Eric

        don't worry. It was a general bug. Only indirectly related to

            Hi, Angel,

            Thanks for the suggestion but my code is vastly more
            complicated than
            that. Hundreds of lines of code per click, and it is
            tricky to sort out
            what is selected at the end unless I redesign it.

            'select visible' is a very attractive solution.
