emm, are we talking about an open source search engine here? there are
many lying around. Yahoo is not a search engine it is a portal (among
other things), I very very rarely use yahoo, but I guess it's an icon; a
random writes software to fulfil his needs, gets it on the Internet and
suddenly gets lots of money out of it! Yahoo were the first(?) to make
it to Fortune 500, as far as I remember! and to see microsoft buy them
out annoys me because of what Yahoo is to the internet in this sense.
Another worry I have, is will microsoft kill zimbra? hope not. anyways,
I hope the directors at yahoo dont sell.

hehe, IBM!

I do hate microsoft, but I dont think they are the enemy! We should be
worrying about software patents, our rights online, intellectual
property and freedom to share, modify and evolve! Microsoft will
eventually have to give in (like IBM did to PCs), but that is not the
target (not for me anyways).

You lost me here! but yeah, no one should be isolated from this (open
source, freedom, call it what you want). Or do you want them to join
forces to become a competitor to microsoft? i would love to see that!

Peace,
