Okay guys, there's no need for tension now, I'm tame and calm and smiling. :)
Okay Zaid, maybe I was exaggerating a little bit, actually I was exaggerating a lot more than I thought I was. The reason for this is that I was actually comparing the creation of Linux, the strongest open source alternative to Microsoft's Windows, to the creation of a new search engine to play as an alternative to Yahoo! which is of course too far from logic, since we can't compare an Operating System, to a search engine, there's no comparison. But what I meant is this, creating a new alternative to Yahoo! is not a child's play, it's not that easy, who said it is? But guys, ya know something? I don't know about the rest of the world, but I know lot's of the famous search engines in the middle east, and you also know them, Maktoob.com, Ayna.com, and a lot more. If we, the Arabs, manage to convince these to support Open Source, we might be able to develop something for ourselves. Maybe it still won't stand a chance against Yahoo! but at least, it will give us a good opportunity, to finally feel like we, the Arabs are finally doing something. Plus, I don't know, but even if Microsoft does put its hands on Yahoo! I don't really think that would be the end of the world. How? well, simply, because one of the main reasons why Microsoft is welling to buy Yahoo! is to try to compete with Google. Yahoo! is already still too far from being a rival to Google, and Microsoft won't be able to add anything to Yahoo! to make it stronger, we all know MSN is a great failure, so combining it with Yahoo! will only make things worse. Plus, Microsoft knows that they are fighting the dragon in the lava pool when they are competing with Google. The internet is Google's field, that's a fact the doesn't need proof. So, no matter what Microsoft does, competing with Google will still be a stupid move. Of course unless Microsoft makes another monopolistic move that's similar to the one they made with Netscape. I didn't bring the last line out of my own imagination, I've read it in an article on Yahoo! Business.
