Offer a good business plan that has open source at its core, and you just
might get what you wish.

This move obviously reeks of desperation on M$ side, and shows how they are
incapable of competing with Google head on.
What is worrying in this deal is not that M$ might actually acquire Yahoo!,
or of moving them off of FreeBSD, or even switching them completely to ASP
instead of PHP (i'm mostly sure points 2 and 3 would never happen).

What is worrying is that between those two companies, they hold 3 out of 5
of the mosted visited websites in the world (yahoo.com, live.com, and
msn.com, not to mention M$ has a stake in facebook which is at number 7). If
M$ tries to expand it's desktop monopoly to lock those sites, or provide
enhanced functionality to windows users, we will be facing a very scary
scenario.
