Wednesday is Loudon Wainwright's birthday.
NPR/All Things Considered did an interview with his son, Rufus, and
daughter, Martha, today, 9/3/01. it's online, just click it, and
RealPlayer will play it. It's great.

I saw Rufus headline in concert up in Portland, Oregon this past
Saturday. The guy is brilliant: symphonic, literate, irreverant.
People on this list must know of, and have heard him. His 2 CD's are
amazing.
He was also on www.FUV.org (Fordham University's internet radio
station/part of NPR also) today, but it's not archived, though they
may replay it, this week, in honor of Loudon's birthday.
Something about Rufus's melodic word and sound-pictures reminds me a
bit of Joni...the truth, the irreverance, the reveries. The title
song on his new CD, "Poses", has . . .a ring of "For The Roses"...
though he never has mentioned Joni in his interviews as an
'influence'...
