Meow, meow, aren't we catty now? That part about the roots showing - you are SUCH a girl! The weird thing is, now you mention it, I'm SURE I read about this quite a while ago somewhere (was it here on the jmdl or maybe in some magazine?) about this singer who was "dating" the president's (or ex-pres's) son, said son being really a flamer (if everyone knows, what the hell is the point? but I digress), but of course at the time, none of us in the English-speaking world had heard of Shakira, so it was just another weird Latin-America story, and you could roll your eyes at it and think, Oh, what the HELL are those people doing down there? Or maybe I just dreamed the whole thing up.
I didn't really mind her "Whatever, wherever, whenever" (whatever!) song - the weird vocal tick seems to work OK in that one (of course, the lyrics are completely silly - the thing about the breasts and the mountains cracks me right up!) but my daughter downloaded a couple of other songs from musiccity.com and I was holding myself seriously in check trying not to yell, "Turn that bloody thing off!" because it's just so darn parent-ish to do that, y'know.
