Yes Anne you hit the root cause of the problem. There have been numerous TV
reports showing how Palestinian school textbooks are teaching hate. No
wonder they blow themselves up.
All of this because it serves the interest of a tiny minority. Arafat said
last week that he didn't mind having 1 million martyrs (or was it 3?).
Now I can assure you that Israelis are not doing that. Of course there may
be some extremists who do, but on the whole Israelis want peace. I visited
Israel in 2000. I felt no hate from the many Israelis I met towards the
arabs, nor did I feel hate myself.
At the pro Israelis demonstrations (in Paris or elsewhere) I don't hear
"death to the Arabs".
The reverse is sadly not true.

There was an interesting special on CNN last night which puts the
territorial claims in perspective:
Israel is the size of New Hampshire, is 390 miles long, 85 miles at its
widest point and 8 miles at its narrowest point. The commentator concluded
with: "What if the rest of the U.S. declared war on New Hampshire?".
