And you are not the only ones. Many of us find the
whole thing confusing. What the hell is going on? How
informed are we, really?

There was a rather funny column by Linwood Barclay in
today's Toronto Star (link

)
Cripes, is that link long enough for you or what?

He is a humour columnist, so don't expect anything too
serious. He suggests that, when things become too
confusing, he turns to celebrity opinions for the
answers. Despite the humour, however, he sums it all
up for me in his second paragraph, which pretty much
echoes the way I feel about this whole thing. To be
honest, I'm not sure if I'm paying it as much
attention as I should, but I find the more I read,
watch and hear about it, the more confused I become.
And then again, who do you trust to give you the whole
story? Does anyone give the facts, just the facts
anymore? Here's his 2nd paragraph:

"As you can tell, I'm pretty confused. I've tried
reading all the different papers, watching Newsworld
and CNN. I've listened to Wolf Blitzer and his guests,
watched the left and right foam at the mouth on
Crossfire. I've tuned in to Larry King on several
occasions, and the only thing I'm sure of is that
Robert Blake probably did it. But as for the Iraq
thing, the more information I get, the less I seem to
know."

I don't want war. I don't want my neighbours going to
war. I don't want Iraqi kids killed when the point is
supposed to be getting rid of Saddam Hussein (to be
replaced with whom, I wonder? but that's another
story). Maybe I've watched too many movies, but where
are the trained assassins who could target the one
they're really after? Why do we need bombs? Why not
Bush and Hussein, boxing gloves, high noon, downtown
Geneva? Where the hell is James Bond when you need
him?

Yup, I'm confused.
