Gary's right - Edwin Starr did the definitive version.  The Temptations did a 
recording as well on the Psychadelic Shack album.  Both versions were produced 
by the writer, Norman Whitfield who sure pushed the boundaries of Berry Gordy's 
neat pop boxes!
