Quoting Heather <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: >" Hasn't Joni said that before? Wasn't a performance in New Orleans (or somewhere in that vicinity) to be her swan song? I think Joni will always have the bug ... or itch ... to create music. She will always continue to create on her own terms."
well,Joni has been saying this very same thing for years! I do believe that Joni will continue to be creative, but something tells me that this may very well be her last recording effort. Having been fortunate enough to spend an hour or so with JM and Kakki a year ago, it is apparent to me that her painting assumes prominence in her life now- she has MORE than proven that she has the "chops" as far as music is concerned. She VERY much is aware of what she has musically contributed. But she said: "no one wants to listen to what I have to say." She seemed extremely pissed, and rightly so, that she has not received the "recognition" she truly deserves. She looked me in the eye and asked" What do you paint? I'm a landscape painter, you know!" Though she spoke fondly of her beginnings in the early sixties and those who were prominent at the time, her eyes really came alive when she talked about her painting. What she lives and feels now, she expresses thru paint, not words. So returning to her music, I must say, that today's feature on Nonesuch, Slouching Towards Bethlehem, is absolutely brilliant! Cannot wait to hear a "real" CD of Traveloque, and having the thrill of a preview @ the Toronto Harbourfront tribute a year ago, I know that I will be blown away. And if this will be the swan song, so be it. I will be satisfied. Best to all, Stephen in Vancouver NP: Tom Waitts/Crystal Gayle- One From the Heart Do you have this one Bob M?
