Lori, my understanding is that any email you download onto the
computer to read (using an email client like Eudora, Outlook Express
etc) can be read by the systems dept/employer if the computer is
networked, and the information remains on the hard drive even if you
think you've deleted it. But if you go online to read your mail as
webmail (Yahoo, Hotmail etc), then those emails can't be read by
other people even if the computer is networked, although as Kakki
says, the fact that you accessed the account would be recorded. But
this would not reveal your account name or password: just the fact
that you went to, say, www.hotmail.com at such-and-such a date and
time.
