The best popup stopper I've found so far is "Pop-Up Stopper" (go figure) from Panicware, Inc.
I downloaded and installed their free version a few months ago, and it works very well. So well, in fact, that if you want to open another browser session - or see popups you're used to seeing and want to see - you have to hold down the Ctrl key as you open the session.
