I was a true fan of both Joni's and Melissa's. But they were so different. MM comes from a very classically trained musical family. Her father performed with the NY Symphony, her brother was her music conductor, and Melissa herself studied voice and music. Joni, as we know, never really studied, and certainly never the classics. Joni's music has endured, while I don't think we have but fond memories of Melissa. The last time I saw her was in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Song and Dance. She can sing, but she sure can't act. Though I did like the small part she played in For the Boys.
