I was never a big collector of Joni concert footage,
but after seening WOHAM, and how utterly perfect in
voice and music sensibility she was in each piece, I
want more! I suppose maybe the director chose the
best performances and sometimes used the studio
version, but she was never out of tune, never lost her
breath, or squeaked or croaked. Amazing.
My question is...does anyone have the Blue and Case of
You concert. holy shit. So fascinating...to see her
performance switch from plaintive and lovely, eyes
scanning the audience in the earlier days, to
completely absorbed, eyes shut, channeling god knows
what - beauty and pain personified - when singing
blue and COY during what I think I read was some BBC
footage that even the BBC didn't have anymore.
And the Laurel Canyon stuff, Kakki, I would kill for
that. Jenny
