I'll second that.
It's bad enough to get all those out-of-office replies without having to
deal with the resulting arrogant flames.
This in turn obviously generates messages like Don's and this one. In in
all, we probably tripled the amount of useless mail. This is not, I am sure
the original intent.

You guys should really come down off of your high horses. You were a
beginner once too. Oftentimes these people just need a push in the right
direction. You really shouldn't be discouraging new JSP people, but instead
build the community up. If it really becomes a problem, then there should be
a beginners and advanced list - then you can flame the hell out of any lame
questions posted to the advanced list. Otherwise, the beginner - and
sometimes lame - questions will never stop, and we'll constantly have to
listen to - not only the lame questions - but also your insufferable whining
polluting our inboxes about how great you are and how everybody else sucks.
This thread is just as annoying as an out of office reply.

And also, I think the inordinate amount of out-of-office replies was merely
due to the Holidays. . . .I'm sure they will be much less in this and the
coming weeks. So stop adding to the wasted emails cluttering my inbox, and
try to help out the list.

If you don't like it, you can always unsubscribe. Besides, you sound like
you're so good Scott, that you don't need this list anyway.

Exactly, guys. Why sign up for a listserv and then kick back out-of-office
replies to everyone on the list that posts a message. Ridiculous.

Oh, and my FAVORITE one is what you mentioned, T.A.. These lazy so-and-so's
that post questions like, "What is JSP?" or "How do I build an e-commerce
application in JSP using servlets, applets and beans?" Hey, why don't we
just come over there and do your job for you. Geesh.

Thanks, I'll sit back down.

<getting off my soapbox>

Scott

And if that wasn't enough you have the S.L.U.Gs (selfish, lazy,
useless, gobers)that want their knowledge spoon fed to them by those of
us who have taken the time and effort(of course, not to forget the hair
that we pulled out of ours heads) learning and perfecting our craft.
