Good idea. So italics would mean NOT Selectable, right? I think Stefan's right - ultimately an icon change would be good too (or maybe a second icon showing the states). But the font change is good and quick to do now.
Hey, I just thought of something which might be handy. In Swing Tooltips it's possible to use HTML code to provide formatting. In particular, this lets multiple lines of data be shown. Seems like the current Layer tooltip info could be dramatically enhanced - maybe even to provide most of the things which are shown in the current Layer Info box!?
