Sounds good to me

How about a compromise: a folder with a green plus on it for datasets,
and a plain folder for projects. See attached.

Hi Stefan,
For the icons I'd like to keep with more standard icons such as the Open
folder icon for the Open File menu and toolbar rather than the + icon.
If there are any graphic designers amongst us a slightly different
folder icon for Open File v.s. Project would be nice.
At the moment the only place the old Load Data set is still in use is on
the Right click category menu. I think that was for ArcSDE compatibility.
We should also clean up all the other Add image layer etc plug-ins so
that we only have the one Open File plugin, in the File menu, Toolbar
and right click on Category. I'll let someone else take charge on
deciding how that should be done.
At some point I'd also like to change the Project file format to use the
FileLayerLoader to load the files rather than the data sources directly.
But that is a bigger piece of work that will take some time to decide on
how that should work.

Hei Paul,
it integrates neatless: Well done!
If we disable the old LoadDataset, then we should adjust the icon to
the old one (green cross).
[Actually we should not remove the LoadDataset code due to keep
compatibility .. or does is not make sense, because the old dialog
would not be accessible?]

All,
I've finally integrated the new Open File, Project and Recent and file
drag/drop plug-ins into the core.
If you have any of your own Vector or Image file plug-ins have a look at
the following files to see examples of using the new framework. At some
point we should put together a short tutorial
org.openjump.core.ui.io.file.DataSourceFileLayerLoader
org.openjump.core.ui.io.file.ReferencedImageFactoryFileLayerLoader
org.openjump.OpenJumpConfiguration look at the
postExtensionInitialization method, this loads any data sources
registered with the old DataSourceQueryChooserManager and sets the
option for the GML plug-in.
Michael, Stefan and Landon can you do a quick test to make sure it works
on another environment than mine.
