There's not much enlightenment to be had. libc6 is either 6-CURRENT or a GNU 
libc version, and since you're not running Linux nor (I hope) 6-CURRENT, you 
don't want to install it.

Can you please explain why you are not installing from packages? 9 times out 
of 10 it's simpler, faster, and less error prone (and the 10th time too).
