You're probably (still? again?) running a kdelibs package compiled with 
FreeBSD 5's system compiler. See 
http://frontrangebsd.org/pipermail/kde-freebsd/2005-July/011134.html on how to 
recompile/reinstall it with a gcc34 from ports - that should fix the crashes 
with the monochrome iconset.
