It is openssl being a backwards-incompatible POS alright, but not really
#55102.

Put WITH_OPENSSL_STABLE= YES into /etc/make.conf and try portupgrade -rf
openssl again. And seriously consider upgrading your system to FreeBSD 5 or
FreeBSD 6.

In FreeBSD 4, we seem to have now reached a state where the openssl version
included with the base system is too old and the latest version from ports is
too new.

There is, for the moment, the new security/openssl-stable port (setting the
make variable above should trigger it to be used - make sure you're getting
an openssl-0.9.7something when you start the portupgrade), I am hoping that
will make things work - if so, I will change the dependency in kdepim to
openssl-stable.

However, this is yet another little push towards the edge of us dropping
FreeBSD 4 support for good. I really urge everybody on this list to move up
to FreeBSD 5 or FreeBSD 6 now and spread the word to everybody who does not
read this list as well: FreeBSD 4 support is definitely on the way out. We're
hitting more and more roadblocks trying to continue supporting it as time
passes and we're rather bound to eventually encounter one we won't be able to
deal with anymore.
