If a diff were provided against cooker's kernel in svn, would that help ?

(This *really* *really* *really* needs to be fixed, it is the only question I 
get from Ubuntu/Fedora users that I can't answer ... and it is also 
irritating since I did some of the work to get dkms in, and people often 
complain about dkms, when it is just exposing this problem)
