My testing shows this to work just fine... can you confirm if your sandbox a)
is running the latest code from the repo (we updated last night) and b) has
applied both the atomicupdates/hourlyloans.sql AND
atomicupdates/issues_datetime.pl database revisions?

Also, what mechanism(s) are you using to do the renewal?  It could be we're
going about it different ways, and thus getting different results.
