True. But this is an opt-in vs. opt-out argument. If someone wants you to use their network, it's really pretty easy to indicate such, no?

I see 5 open networks right now.  Of them, there are two I might use.

One has an SSID of "OPEN" and the other has an SSID of "Public". That's pretty clear.

The other 3 are "Motorola", "linksys" and some hex numbers. I should probably stay off those. Those look like they're left at factory defaults.
