Wrong. Your not voting effectively presents a vote for status quo. You don't get to opt out of the game. Yes, I do wish we had a "None of the above. Ban all candidates and do another election in 3 months" but we don't.
However, there are a *ton* of people looking for how to fix things. The answer is to start at the local level. If you don't believe your vote helps, run for office. This is how the Christofascists hijacked the political machinery--from the bottom.
Besides, it's not like there are huge numbers of people fighting over all the government positions--especially the non-paid ones.
