In case you don't have it already, look in the upper right of your thunderbird screen. Below the X that closes the program is the circle of dots that shows activity when it wants you to stand by. Below that is a search box. Below that is the headings. The junk column that you want to get rid of is one of them. On the far right of these headings is one that gives you the option to hide or show whichever columns you want, including "junk status". Clear the check box and the column will disappear.

Perhaps I read it wrong, but it sounded to me like all you want is to make the junk status column disappear.
