I run skype, because that's how we communicate at work. We have a developer in
Germany and a VP of Engineering in Wisconsin. My main grip against skype on
Linux is that when you shut it down, it really doesn't exit completely. I have
to go to command line and killall skype to get rid of the background process.
I can run it at home and at work, with the same login and remembers chat
sessions so they show up both places. I like other solutions better, but
Windows users who know how to use a mouse can install and run it. And you can
do voice between skype accounts for free. We do weekly "meetings" with skype.
Just my inflation adjusted $.02 worth.
