From the above I infer that people want to use Wine for applications that don't have comparable equivalents under Linux. It can probably be read as a testament to OpenOffice that not too many people are bent out of shape about
not being able to run bona-fide Office under Wine.

You are assuming I run Office.  I never said I did.

Semi-irrelevant comment.  The #1 productivity app that I wanted to run
under Wine was TurboTax.  (only once a year).  Then I discovered that
TurboTax would run on OS-X and just moved across the room to my wife's
G4 Macintosh.

FYI, there is Turbo Tax online now, but I haven't tried it. I would imagine it's somewhat platform agnostic.
