I used it 5 or 6 years ago. I couldn't imagine doing it anyway else anymore.

If you really want a GOOD tax professional, get an EA. I had one (and
will probably use here again for this year's taxes). Unlike a CPA or
even a tax attorney, they are required to do something like 3 years of
tax auditing before they get their license. They are like a CPA, but
learn the specifics of tax law. She saved me a bundle and even got me a
full refund of my 1997 taxes in 2001 (I had had a CPA do my 1997 taxes
and she said when she had time she'd look at them and probably get it
all back for me. She did.)
When I do my taxes, I use the online forms and fill them out myself. If
I need additional work (e.g. - self employment and grabbing every
deduction and pulling out ever tax loophole possible), I use the EA.
I haven't made enough since 2001 to have to pay anything (except for
this year), so I haven't had to worry about anything other than the
simple forms. From 1997 - 2007 I have not paid any income tax. I was
ripped off for capital gains in 2002, but that was partially my fault
for losing my proof that I didn't own it.
