If it's like my thinkpad, this will take a long time. Mine powers off after three guesses, and you have to wait to power it up again to try some more. You might try "merlin" which is reported to be a password override. I actually really hope it doesn't work, but it'd be convenient if it did. Otherwise, is your motherboard bios Award or Phoenix?
