That would be an IP cam in my terms. I'm talking about the small budget 
gadgets that connect to usb or firewire and are good for video conferencing 
but nothing fancy.

got a bt878 capture card with composite in lying around, considered that, too.
possibly worth a shot. will check out what cam modules are available at my 
local vendor.
