Gentleman I am assuming we can have different points of view for the
purpose of education and not offend anyone. The gentleman I spoke of a
Sonerai flying just like a cub I believe could be a dangerous statement for
some. I have flown many different types of taildraggers including
champions, chiefs and cups along with a Cessna 140.
All of those it is true do have similar flight characteristics though
they are unique to their own. A higher performance amateur built aircraft
does not fly orl land the same. Build a mansion aircraft does not have any
dangers flight characteristics it is still a sensitive airplane. Mine had a
climb rate of 1500 feet per minute and a roll rate of 180 degrees per
second. Please do not take this wrong! I just believe that it could hurt
someone that is a little bit ignorant that they can fly something that is
fairly tame and jump into a higher performance sport aircraft and not have
to the very careful! This is a great website and though none of the
airplanes if flown within their respected flight parameters are inherently
dangerous we must be careful how we use our experience to convey knowledge
to others. My Sonerai was a very nice handling airplane and I do miss it
but none of these aircraft are tame is the previously mentioned Pipers,
Aeronca's or Cessnas. Again I hope no one takes offense to this but I do
feel that it is important that we do not compare our homebuilts to factory
builts when it comes to performance.
