DO NOT purchase a "partially completed kit" unless you know what you are doing! I purchased a KR1 and KR2 "partially completed kit"; KR1 was glued together with some kind of glue that turned yellow, by shaking the boat all the parts fell out leaving the wood panels with surface rust. KR2; spars were not set correctly, one wing ended up three inches lower then the other and at an angle, controls were frozen, overall construction was very poor. The person I picked the KR2 up from removed everything that was worth anything knowing that I would load at night and not unload the plane until I was 1200 miles away.
Lesson learned, trust everyone but verify what you think you are paying for is what you are getting. The other thing you could do is trawl e-bay and barnstormers regularly (aviation trader and various other flight magazines wouldn't hurt either) for partially completed kits, always a popular choice for those wishing to jump start" their projects.
