We talked about /usr/bin/ksh at the OpenSolaris Implementation Team meeting a couple weeks ago.
There was no support for making /usr/bin/ksh mean ksh93 for just OpenSolaris. The way to look at the current situation is that OpenSolaris does not provide /usr/bin/ksh, and the contents of /usr/bin/ksh is left up to individual distros. We also talked about testing, since that was a major justification for having OpenSolaris supply /usr/bin/ksh. It was suggested that someone in Sun run the large test suites that Sun uses internally, such as SVVS and VSC[1], under ksh93. This is in addition to April's proposal of using ksh93 for the ON tools. mike Notes: [1]Apparently, the suites rely heavily on ksh scripts even though they don't explicitly test ksh.
