LULAC CIVIL RIGHTS COMMISSION
SEEKS INJUNCTION AGAINST KLAN HARASSMENT
The California LULAC State Civil Rights Commission is asking the
Orange County District Attorney to seek an injunction under the Ralph Civil
Rights Act against harassment of an African American family by the Ku Klux
Klan (KKK). According to Jan Tucker, Chief Investigator for the
Commission, a "seriously sick and racist KKK leaflet was left on the
family's door from 'Imperial Klans of America, Knights of the Ku Klux
Klan,' describing African Americans as 'beasts' and babbling incoherently
about race-mixing and the purported mating between Angels and Humans.
Anybody with a grain of intelligence will know that when the Klan leaves
its calling card on a black family's door, it is a threat of harm."
The LULAC Commission is investigating whether there is a connection
between a lawsuit filed against ORACLE Corporation by a member of the
family in which it was alleged that an ORACLE regional manager had claimed
to be a member of the KKK and subjected him to discriminatory working
conditions.
Angel Luevano, California State Director of LULAC and a former EEO
Investigator for the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP)
said that LULAC would ask the NAACP State Conference to initiate a legal
redress investigation to parallel LULAC's efforts.
