Of course, if one did not want to enjoy the pleasure of seeing the inquirer 
stroke out at the probable price of a piece of commissioned hand made lace, one 
could direct the questioner to the antique market. Lace dealers are selling 
pieces of lace that took hundreds and hundreds of hours of work by someone 
several hundred years ago quite cheaply. It is probably possible to buy a piece of 
lace that is 200 years old for the equivalent of a dollar an hour, or even 
perhaps a penny an hour for the work in it.
