As for me, not only is it the puzzle solving aspect, but I find the actual working has an effect on my emotions. It is soothing and satisfying in a way that is hard to describe. The movements are hypnotic. So, we are really finding altered consciousness when we do this. Like zen, or using mind altering substances.
