I was curious as to what you like on your bobbins. ----

My favorite pillows are block, which are very flat on top. Therefore, the
bobbins I work with mostly are Swiss. They have pointed bottoms, good for
sewings, are reasonably narrow overall (fit more on the pillow), and have a
double head like Midlands (much, much nicer for the hitch). Like most
continentals, they have a bulge at the bottom and a narrow "waist", so they're
easy to pick up from a flat pillow. I haven't found much in the way of
decoration, though. I have a couple in exotic wood, but they're not
well-finished They're rough and a bit sticky. I also like the shape of Bayeux
bobbins, but they're not as good for sewings and I haven't found a Bayeux with
a head I like.

My favorite bobbins are Midlands because they're so much more decorated and I
love the decorations. I have bitted (bits of wood embedded in them), exotic
woods, painted, wired, beaded, etc. and I love them all. I also love all the
pretty beads of the spangles and spangle my own with my choice of beads and
charms. However, Midlands don't work well, IMO, on flat pillows--they're too
hard to pick up. I use them on my roller pillows, but don't use the roller
pillows as often as blocks. So I mostly collect & admire my Midlands. I have
several hundred.

I also have a small collection of fancy Danish bobbins. They only have single
heads and the bulged base is rather wide for putting many onto a pillow. But
they are the only decorated continentals I know. Fran of Knotwork makes nice
ones. I'd say these fancy Danish are my third favorite (after Midlands for
show, and Swiss for function).
