Well I guess someone needs to play devil's advocate here. :p

I immediately think that Identi.ca is an instance of Laconi.ca. What 
about that Twit Army is also running Laconi.ca just as Identi.ca is. 
These two are just showcasing the capabilities of this microblogging 
software called Laconi.ca.

Just thinking of possible commercial differences between the two. 
Laconi.ca is a open source project, and I'm not sure the goals of 
Identi.ca are, but I'd hate to see the project be affected by any 
commercialization efforts towards Identi.ca. ie) compromising the 
project by taking investment money could be a conflict of issue.

Regarding Wordpress, IMHO I don't think that .org from .com is any 
clearer. Different names makes the most sense to me.
