In fact, if I try to connect it through tip (by issuing ATDT#777 myself), and 
afterwards try to disconnect, I am unable to get to the command mode by typing 
+++, but only get the PPP stream all the time. I think pppd is somehow having 
the same problem, though I don't know how to solve it...

By the way, I finished installing all S10 available patches from Sun Update 
Connection and kernel patch 118855-19 doesn't break cardbus-0.2 at all. I just 
had to reinstall the driver because it was overwritten when the patch was 
installed. And also during installation of the patch, some crypto checking was 
performed on the module files, and a WARNING was issued as installation 
detected that cardbus and friends were not the original ones. It succeeded 
nevertheless. So now I have S10 with the latest patches and EV-DO working. 
Great!
