FYI, in order to tell if you have the latest ndisapi, check the revision reported by modinfo. Both ndisapi and bcmndis should report version 1.2.1. You can also run powertop and if the bcmndis and/or ndisapi are the top wakeup culprits, you are probably using the broken ndisapi. The problem was that there was a race which was 'fixed' by cranking up the timer interrupt rate. Unfortunately, with faster processors, the race occurs even more often and the impact of exercising the race was to hang up for a while. While I noticed some flakeyness prior to enabling nwam, once nwam was enabled, it became virtually unusable.
