Hi bino, > I see that it's not just me that see BuC is to hot to just positioned as > "router/firewall" > I see BuC as "Platform" that we can "build" anything on top of it. one _can_ - but it doesn't mean that the people working of LEAF should necessarily spend their time on working on things like that (as opposed to making the core product better/more stable/more versatile for what Bering uClibc was meant to do). If somebody wants to create a fork (or even better, just provide the extra packages not mainstream enough to be supported by the core developers), I'm sure nobody would have a problem with that, and it would be right along the lines of Mike's "evolutionary development" model - unless I misunderstood the concept. It seems like the "contrib" tree in CVS would be the right place for something like that.

I have no idea what you're talking about (sounds like some sort of embedded chat-client to me), so I can't comment on how feasible that might be. > Unfortunately ... my dumb brain is not good enough to understand how-to > build BuC pkg. What exactly is the problem with doing that? I _think_ we've provided decent docs, providing step by step instructions on what to do. If you disagree, I'd surely appreciate feedback - the instructions seem sufficient to me, but I might have been working with that kind of stuff too long to see the point of view of a newcomer. > One more thing ... Flash Storage is easier to get than RAM ... at this point > .. i also thinking of CRamFS. Sure. And soon enough, LEAF will be just one more "not quite as bloated as the rest" distro. There are plenty of distros already that try to keep an eye on size (DSL or even Knoppix come to mind), but still require or directly support a harddrive (or CF) for installation. As far as I'm concerned, there's no need to add another one. But of course, I only speak for myself, not for anybody else within the LEAF project. > Argg .. more thing(s) ... I'll need PPP .. since this MDT will have GPRS > connection. So? PPP is supported already. I must be missing your point.
