----- Original Message ----- >OK you got me, I thought all footballing debts, to ex players etc. and all the 20 year season ticket holders 'investments' were to be honoured by the club as they came under the 'football debtors' category. Are you saying that is now not the case and that the 20 year old season tickets are not worth the preverbial Jack Shit?
The 20 yr season ticket holders are effectively on a promise from Ken Bates. I won't speculate whether or not that "worth" fits into your definition of Jack Shit. I personally expect him to honour the tickets. :-) Season ticket holders are NOT "footballing debts". Footballing debts are defined as debts to players in respect of their contracts, and other clubs. n.b. Not managers (unless they are also registered as players). The only reason that footballing debts are "guaranteed" is that the "newco" has to assume the debts or pay them off before the football league will agree to the transfer of the "golden share". There is no actual guarantee as such but it is used as a shorthand because it recognises the effective reality of the situation. >..... then why were they allowed to vote, particularly if one or more of >them had an interest in an alternative bid. hmmm, this is complicated. I am not aware of 20yr ticket holders who had an interest in a rival bid but even if they did have such an interest there would be nothing improper in them continuing to have a vote which is a function of the debt they are owed and nothing to do with "bid allegiance". _______________________________________________ the Leeds List is an unmoderated mailing list and the list administrators accept no liability for the personal views and opinions of contributors.
