Does he have a track record of lies and deceipt?  As far as I know his track
record has always been within the rules/laws.

The less I trusted him, the more formal and watertight the agreement would
be.

I do not think it is unreasonable for someone 'donating' a large sum of cash
gets assurances as to the use that cash is put to.  I don't think Bates has
said otherwise, do you?

Or maybe other potential investors wanted money out of their investment,
rather than the good of Leeds United? 

And as for the 1% thing, that's a load of tosh, unless this 'investment' was
actually just a loan that you wanted interest from or wanted the whole lot
back.
