That wasn't how I read it at the time and it still isn't how I read it. KPMGs statement smacks of exasperation and of having been forced along a particular path by somebody. At the end they make it fairly clear that they are very aware of the golden share problem but have tossed it right back into Bates' lap. Perhaps it was the actions of the Bates camp that forced them into this position.
