If Bates didn't expect that then he's more stupid than we thought. HMRC have never hidden this fact from ANY business and especially not from Football. KPMG should know this too as they are a prime choice for this type of work by football clubs (as I said previously they are even the Football League's auditors) Leeds United as a football club are run and owned bya group of people chaired by Ken Bates as chairman he has duties and responsibilities both to his company and under the laws of the land and the game he's involved in. Is it beyond credence to think that he and his fellow directors and advisors would not know this? I think not. And tell me this. If you think a mass letter writing campaign to get a 15 point penalty changed will work then do you think that a beleaguered FL would not have demanded some other form of "non fan hurting" penalty in the first place. The FL do not give a flying f*ck about fans and never have done. Their interest is solely in seeing that Leeds United were penalised for having broken the FL's clearly stated, however wrongheaded, rules. Rules that were supposed to show that the League was taking self regulation and governance seriously but in fact rules which only show that the whole management and regulation of football is a Brian Rix style farce - see also Tevez. If I was a third division (don't forget that's where Bates and no one else has led us) Chairman I would be relishing the fact that the major threat to my season has been effectively hobbled from day one, I certainly wouldn't be thinking "oh poor old Leeds fans, their season has been ruined because their maverick chairman can't read the rule book or turn his deaf aid on when there's something important to listen to, lets give them their 15 points back" In fact if I had been on the FL board I would have sent Leeds down another league just for cheek. We should shut up and prove that we are any good in the one place that it matters - on the field, and the conniving git in the long black coat in the Director's box should be making sure that we as a club have the resources to do that. If only as an abject apology to the poor old long suffering supporters and the sad bastards who didn't ask him for cash up front in the first place. I mean he's the one who always wants to cock a snook at authority. Well let him do it, by putting his hand in his well lined pocket and ensuring that we can play every team in England off the pitch - I mean that's what we want isn't it? Or do we want to succeed because although we are shite on the pitch we have a conniving git who has ashort cut at every hurdle? Is that really the sort of football that the ghost of King Billy was talking about with "side before self". Bloody snide before self more like it. I want Leeds to play football me, not arsey games with a calculator, lawyers and the Boys Own Book Of Bending The Rules To Suit. Accordingly I've personally rung to every FL Chairman today demanding that they completely ignore any whining Leeds fan who thinks that the stupid old git from Monaco should get away with it! Every one of them except Delia Smith responded positively. Some even suggested a similar scheme to that whereby they could appeal against the penalty and ask for it to be increased. (Delia thinks Kenny Boy is egg bound and noted that the first ever match she saw was at SOTG) Now that's what I call direct action, what did you waste your valuable time doing today? Thank You and Goodnight!
