I don't think richard was and I wasn't, basically blackadder takes the characters/stereotypes/ stories and makes then absurd and funny, same with thick of it same with Little Britain etc. if you walk into a house in south wales or essex it wont be like gavin and Stacey but there may be some characteristics of essexness and welshness that they seize upon and exploit
Thick of it is still the best comedy around at the moment.
