Well you did ask.
If anyone says anything negative then I bugger off in a tantrum. On the other
hand if they say anything positive I wonder what the patronising sods really
want?
In short I suspect appreciation & hate depreciation.
Did you really expect a serious answer?

In truth we don't know whether booing or cheering will help.

And the reason is different people have different motivational triggers. I know
about myself that if challenged (eg boss says 'you'll never get all that done
in a day') I will rise to that challenge and prove my boss wrong.

Similarly some players, if booed might think 'right you booing fuckers, I'll
bloody well show you' and try that little bit harder, in the game or the next
game.

Others, who hear the adoration and name singing, might find their chest puffing
out and be motivated by that.

We don't know what motivates individual players. That is the job of the
manager, to understand his players and cajole, kick arse, put arm round
shoulder, challenge or whatever to press their buttons.

But it wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility to suggest that by some
fans booing and some fans cheering we are in some small way catering for the
motivational needs of all the players .

Over to you Dr Mike
