People used to understand that it was about two teams of 11 (with added subs etc) who went out onto the pitch and started even...everything to be played for...and you would beat you opponents, with better skills, more fire in your belly, a stronger work ethic across the team...and sometimes a bit of luck. You played it like that and when you supported your team you did it bearing these things in mind. It is supposed to be a competition, not a cakewalk.
There were Leeds "fans" booing yesterday at half time (when the score was 0-0) and at fulltime. It is a game not a TV show, where the winner is predictable...go watch fucking X-factor or Strictly Come Dancing or something, because the team is struggling and needs your support, not your hot-dog munching, "full-on matchday experience" demand for victory as of right. (The real matchday experience is gritting your teeth when you get a poxy draw like this, or a defeat on rain sodden Tuesday night and coming back next time and "failing better") We were inches from a handsome victory yesterday. We played better as a team than we have for weeks (admittedly against a very limited team) we are still second, and yes, we need to start getting a run of wins together to get things back on track, but how is cat-calling individuals, booing the team going to help with this. We do not have a divine right to win games, nor do we have a divine right to promotion. The players need to go out and bloody well earn both, and we have a part to play in that. _______________________________________________ the Leeds List is an unmoderated mailing list and the list administrators accept no liability for the personal views and opinions of contributors.
