as others have said, thanks to Dave and Rich for keeping the reports coming...been a hell of a season...I've kept schtum for a few weeks just to try and ease off the tension...but jesus, Saturday felt good....whilst Sunday was a bit shabby to be honest...
I couldn't believe that there are still some Beckford deniers here on and on other lists...does my head in...but then wherever you go in life you find stupid people...take the 31 goals away this season...take the 30 odd last year and the 20 the year before...where would have finished...nowhere! There simply is not a counter argument to this. I hope Simon and Ken and Jermaine have sat down and had a good old chat since Saturday...it is unlikely he will stay and all the deniers will get their way, then we'll look to see where that goal gap gets filled. Making him captain was a smart move / clever piece of PR and he looked like he was taking it seriously with the business with Gradel (what a knobhead btw). Whilst they are all heroes I think that the two above all who can say "I did the job I was paid for in that team this year, to the best of my abilities", are Beckford and Kisnorbo. And I don't know what the final scores were, but Beckford got 31 goals - what about the other forwards? Becchio 17 -ish - good return (2nd season running); Vokes (0); Kandol (4?); Gradel (5?); Grella 5; Showunmi - 1 (?) - so as a group they matched Beckford's return for the season... Johnny Howson - what an inspired substitution...! for next year: (we should keep) Higgs, Kisnorbo, Bromby, Parker, White, Kilkenny, Howson, Snodgrass, Gradel, Beckford my heart says we should ditch the clod-hopper Becchio, but my head says that we won't with 20 goals last season and 17 this, and that would depress me, but I'm too busy basking in the afterglow. (those we will keep, in addition to the above) Angkergren, Crowe, Hughes, Naylor, Johnson, Grella have probably missed some off... _______________________________________________ the Leeds List is an unmoderated mailing list and the list administrators accept no liability for the personal views and opinions of contributors.
